Pick a Santa letter template above, choose US Letter or A4, and download a print-ready PDF. Every template has Santa's letterhead ("From the desk of Santa Claus, Santa's Workshop, North Pole"), a gold or blue border and a Nice List seal in the corner. The lined version is for writing the letter by hand; the plain version is for typing or for a calligraphy pen.
The PDFs are made in your browser, so they download instantly and nothing you choose is uploaded.
How to use a Santa letter template
- Download and print the template at 100% (actual size). Cream, ivory or slightly thicker paper looks the most like the North Pole.
- Write the letter in a hand that isn't your everyday one. Many parents write with their other hand, in capital letters, or with a gold or red gel pen.
- Sign it "Santa Claus" with a big loop on the S, fold it in three and put it in an envelope.
If you'd rather not write it yourself, the letter from Santa tool writes a personalized letter about your child's year in about five seconds and prints it on the same stationery.
What to write on the Santa letter template
The letters children remember mention things only Santa could know. Before you write, jot down three small, true things from this year: something they learned ("you can swim across the pool now"), something kind they did, and something they are working on. Then add one North Pole detail, like an elf with a name or a reindeer from the 1823 poem getting into mischief.
A simple shape that works for most ages:
- Hello from the North Pole, with one small moment from the workshop.
- What Santa heard about this year, using your three details.
- Encouragement for the thing they are working on: "I know you're trying, and I believe in you."
- Their wish, without promising it.
- Sign-off and a short P.S. that makes them laugh.
Printable Santa letter templates vs a written letter from Santa
A blank template is perfect if you love writing it yourself, or if your child knows your typing font. A written personalized letter from Santa is faster: you type the details and get a finished letter you can still edit line by line. Both print on the same Classic parchment and Snowfall designs, which are free. The Midnight & gold and Holly & berries designs are part of the optional North Pole Pack.
Tips for printing your Santa stationery
- Print at 100% / actual size. "Fit to page" shrinks the border unevenly.
- On inkjet printers, choose best quality for the parchment shading.
- Let the ink dry for a minute before folding, especially with gel pens.
- For a finishing touch, add the matching Nice List certificate to the envelope.
Frequently asked questions
Are these Santa letter templates free?
Yes. The Classic parchment and Snowfall templates are free to download and print, lined or plain, on US Letter or A4. Two more designs come with the optional North Pole Pack.
Can I type on the Santa letter template?
The PDF is a printable image, so it's meant for handwriting. To type a letter, use the letter from Santa tool: it lays your text out on the same stationery, and you can edit every sentence.
What size should I print it?
Choose US Letter in the United States and Canada, and A4 almost everywhere else. Print at 100% so the border lines up.
